BOSTON, August 1, 2019—District Attorney Rachael Rollins today released the following statement on the assault that injured a Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department Corrections Officer:

“The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office is keeping the corrections officer who was violently assaulted today in our thoughts. We are thankful to learn from the President of Local 419’s statement that the officer has been released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.  I have spoken personally with Sheriff Tompkins and Commissioner Gross to express my commitment to holding the individuals who engaged in the attack accountable for their actions.  At this time, the investigation remains highly active and one individual is already in custody.  Additional information will be made available at arraignment, which is anticipated to take place tomorrow in the Roxbury Division of the Boston Municipal Court.”
