Statement of DA Rachael Rollins Regarding Hyde Park Homicide
BOSTON, May 20, 2020 — “My office is investigating the fatal shooting last night at Martini Park in Hyde Park around 9:40 p.m. A man and a woman were shot; ultimately, the man’s injuries proved fatal, at this time the woman is expected to survive. The deceased man has been identified as Israel Mayhew, 26, of Dorchester.
“The scourge of gun violence has claimed too many lives in Suffolk County. My Office is working diligently with our law enforcement and community partners to bring answers and accountability to the victims, their families, and our community. We are leading this investigation, which is being conducted by the State Police with assistance from Boston Police. It is active, ongoing and in its earliest stages and we will not be giving more information at this time.”
