Worcester man stealing from cars and in possession of a loaded gun with defaced serial number in Jamaica Plain held on $30,000 bail
BOSTON, November 15, 2022 — A Worcester man was arraigned Thursday on multiple firearm charges after being seen stealing from a car in Jamaica Plain, District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.
ANTOINE ROBINSON, 38, was charged with breaking and entering, carrying a dangerous weapon, possession of firearm, carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property, possession of an illegal firearm having committed a prior violent offense, and defacing a firearm serial number. West Roxbury BMC Judge James M. Shanton ordered Robinson held in lieu of $30,000 bail with the requirements that he stay away and have no contact with the victims/witnesses and the location of offense with GPS monitoring. Robinson will appear in court on December 6th for a probable cause hearing.
Assistant District Attorney Francis Dimento said that, on November 9th. Boston police responded on a call for a man breaking into cars in Jamaica Plain. One of the victims told officers that the man stole her nanny’s black purse from her car. Another witness told officers they observed, from their back porch, the man taking the purse. Police broadcast a description of the man, and a person matching the description, who was later identified as Robinson, was spotted and apprehended.
When pat frisking Robinson officers retrieved a switchblade and noticed a large hunting knife in his car. An inventory search of his car retrieved a loaded 9mm handgun with the serial number scratched off along with business checks and a debit card that did not belong to Robinson.
“We often talk about the importance of community members helping law enforcement when it comes to crimes in their neighborhoods. Here’s a good example of how that help works. These witnesses called police, provided a description, and helped apprehend someone who was committing dangerous acts,” Hayden said.
