Boston man sentenced to 10-12 years in prison for 2020 stabbing of girlfriend
BOSTON, December 13 —A Suffolk Superior Court judge today sentenced a Boston man to 10 to 12 years in prison followed by 2.5 years of probation for the 2020 stabbing of his then girlfriend, District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.
GREGORY WHITE, 54, was convicted by a jury on December 5 on one count of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, one count of assault and battery on a family or household member and one count of witness intimidation. Judge Robert Ullman handed down the sentence today.
On June 25, 2020, White and his girlfriend of three years got into an argument over infidelity. White grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the abdomen causing a life-threatening injury. White threatened to kill her and her family if she told the police what had happened. She was able to flee in her car, with the defendant chasing her and throwing garbage cans toward her. The victim drove a few blocks away and called the police. The victim was admitted to the hospital in critical condition and had to have surgery.
Assistant District Attorney Bader Abueid read an impact statement on behalf of the victim at today’s sentencing.
“He tried to take my life away with his jealousy and abusive ways. I welcomed him to my home and he turned my life upside down,” the victim wrote. “I’m struggling because I can’t work till I fully heal. I have limitations now because of him.”
She continued: “I will suffer every day because I have to see the horrible scar on my stomach as a reminder. You will have to answer to God why you are so cruel, insane and such a monster. You will always have to answer to God for being a coward.”
