Tennessee man arraigned on numerous gun charges
BOSTON, March 15, 2022— A Tennessee man was ordered held without bail today in Boston Municipal Court after being arrested Monday at South Station with a large quantity of guns, ammunition and large-capacity firearm feeding devices, District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.
John A. Pierre, 25, was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for March 17. He faces at total of 24 counts of possession of a weapon without a license, possession of ammunition and possession of large-capacity magazines.
Pierre was arrested following an investigation by members of the Boston Police Youth Violence Strike Force, the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit, and special agents from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
In just the last two days, authorities in Boston have seized 16 illegal firearms, including 11 in this case, District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.
“This is great work by all agencies involved. This is an individual intent on selling firearms and adding to the unacceptable levels of guns on our streets. Gun traffickers should beware that their danger to public safety will be met head-on and they will be held accountable,” Hayden said.
At about 2:25 pm on Monday, investigators saw Pierre exit a bus carrying a backpack which appeared to be heavy. Pierre was stopped and the bag confiscated. Investigators found in the bag 11 semi-automatic firearms, numerous feeding devices including high-capacity devices, and boxes of ammunition.
