Revere man arraigned in Superior Court for January 2022 homicide

BOSTON, March 28, 2022—ANDRE ALON TRIPP, 33, of Revere was arraigned in Suffolk Superior Court today on murder and unlawful possession of a firearm charges stemming from a fatal shooting in Revere earlier this year, District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.

Tripp is being held without bail at the request of Assistant District Attorney Julie Higgins.

On January 24, 2022, members of the Revere Police Department responded to the area of Thornton Street at approximately 10:46 a.m. after receiving a 911 call for help.  Officers located the victim, Antwane Strickland, 31, suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

State Police detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office with the assistance of the Revere Police Department gathered evidence including witness statements, phone records and security camera footage.  In Tripp's January 25 District Court arraignment, ADA Higgins told the court that Strickland and Tripp were on Thornton Street when their encounter escalated. Tripp produced a firearm and shot Strickland then fled on foot, Higgins said.

Tripp returns to court on April 19, 2022. He is represented by Attorney Jeff Miller. The Commonwealth is represented by ADA Higgins.
