No Bail for Man Charged with Trafficking Minor for Sex

BOSTON, August 23, 2022—A Dorchester man is held without bail on charges he lured a teen to travel to Massachusetts, where he immediately began to traffic her for sex, District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.

JIMALL “Progress Lu” DAWN BROWN, 33, of Dorchester is charged with trafficking a person under 18 for sexual servitude and assault and battery on a household or family member.  A dangerousness hearing took place in the South Boston Division of Boston Municipal Court on August 18.  Yesterday, Judge Pamela Dashiell found Brown dangerous under MGL 276 Section 58a and ordered him held without bail.

Brown met the victim, who is under the age of 18, on social media.  He arranged for the victim to come to Boston from another state.  Upon the victim’s arrival, Brown immediately took her to a hotel and posted ads on websites trafficking the victim for commercial sex.  Over a period of several months, Brown received thousands of dollars a day in profits from trafficking the underage victim for sex with men.  He allegedly beat the victim on several occasions.

“The facts of this case are deeply disturbing.  This man is accused of luring a vulnerable teen to a city and state where she knew no one, then sexually exploiting and violently beating her.  My office and our partners in law enforcement and victim services treat these allegations with the seriousness they deserve, and we are available to provide victim-centered services and supports the survivors of human trafficking,” Hayden said.
