Two men, juvenile female charged with robbing and beating Green Line MBTA passengers

BOSTON, January 13, 2023 —Two men were charged in Roxbury BMC today with beating, robbing and terrorizing MBTA Green Line passengers during a violent spree Thursday afternoon, District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.

PARRISH LAMONT JONES, 25, of Dorchester and WILLIAM JAMES WINDHAM, 21, of Brockton were both charged with armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury.

Judge Margaret Albertson ordered Jones held without bail pending a January 18 dangerousness hearing.  Albertson found Windham dangerous, set $15,000 bail, and ordered home confinement with GPS monitoring if released.  Windham will appear in court February 10 for a probable cause hearing.

A 16-year-old female was also charged in the incident and was arraigned in Suffolk County Juvenile Court and released to her mother.

Assistant District Attorney Amanda Sheehan said that at about 6:05 p.m. Thursday police responded to the Kenmore MBTA station after being alerted that three males and a female were robbing a passenger on a Green Line trolley.  Witnesses told police that they saw the four punching and stealing from passengers.  Additional witnesses told police they saw the four “mugging” people with a crowbar.  Another witness said the group “terrorized” passengers, shoving and threatening them, and that the suspects hit him in the face with a crowbar and fists before stealing his phone and wallet.

Police arrested the juvenile as she walked near the Fenway MBTA station and arrested Jones and Windham on a trolley.  The third male was not located.

“Terrorizing, beating and robbing MBTA passengers is not just a crime against the victims themselves but a direct assault on the public’s right to use public transportation safely and peacefully. These individuals violated that right, viciously, and they will be held accountable,” Hayden said.
