District Attorney Hayden releases findings in Juston Root non-fatal shooting case

 BOSTON, February 13, 2023 — Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden today released the independent review and findings regarding the officer-involved non-fatal shooting of Juston Root, 41, on February 7, 2020.  Special Assistant District Attorney John Dawley conducted the investigation and concluded that no criminal charges should be issued against any of the officers involved.  Hayden concurred with Dawley’s findings. 

Dawley’s investigation centered on the non-fatal shooting of Root outside Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  Root was later fatally shot in Chestnut Hill, which is Norfolk County, following a car chase.
