Boston man charged with domestic violence attack held pending dangerousness hearing
BOSTON, March 13, 2023 – A Boston man is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing after being charged with attacking and injuring a woman on March 1, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.
PHILIPPE ELIE, 26, was arraigned Friday in the Dorchester Division of Boston Municipal Court on charges of Assault and Battery on a Family or Household Member, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Malicious Destruction of Property.
Judge Jonathan Tynes ordered Elie held pending a dangerousness hearing on March 16.
On Wednesday, March 1st at about 11:00 p.m. Boston Police responded to a domestic violence call in the area of Intervale St. in Dorchester. Upon arrival, officers were met outside by a woman wearing no shoes and blood on her shirt. The woman informed officers she was involved in a physical altercation with a man, later identified as Elie.
Officers noted multiple red marks and a large swollen welt on the victim’s back. Officers also observed large clumps of hair to be falling out of the victim’s head and severe redness to her left eye. The victim told officers Elie slapped her across the face over a text message she received and began to punch her repeatedly in the back with a closed fist.
The victim stated that Elie then kicked her about 10 times and pushed her through a wall. Officers observed a large hole with missing and broken drywall. The victim also reported Elie choked her, dragged her by her hair and shut the windows in the apartment to prevent her screams from being heard.
Boston EMS responded and transported the victim to a nearby hospital.
“The level of violence inflicted upon this victim is extremely disturbing, and something that leaves injuries beyond the physical scarring. My office will ensure that the victim feels supported and has as much assistance as needed as this case moves forward.” Hayden said
