Repeat offender sentenced to 8 years for aggravated rape

BOSTON, July 19, 2023 – A Roxbury man will spend eight years in prison for two counts of aggravated rape stemming from a horrific July 2021 kidnapping and attack in Boston, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced today.

AHMAD MAIDEN, 44, plead guilty Tuesday in Suffolk Superior Court and was sentenced to eight years in prison for two counts of aggravated rape in addition to three years of probation for two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and one count of kidnapping with sexual assault, strangulation, indecent assault and battery, and assault and battery.

Judge Michael Doolin ordered the sentence to be served after the three- to four-year sentence Maiden is currently serving for attacking a Suffolk County jail caseworker in September 2022.

On July 31, 2021, the female victim met Maiden for the first time on Massachusetts Avenue near Boston Medical Center. The two briefly spoke before agreeing to return to Maiden’s home in Roxbury to use drugs. Shortly after, Maiden and the victim were picked up by a black SUV and driven to Maiden’s home. Once inside Maiden’s apartment, a consensual sexual encounter quickly become rape when Maiden become violent.

Maiden choked, punched, and slapped the victim during the rape. Maiden also pressed a knife to the victim’s throat and breasts and threatened to cut her.  He also burned the victim’s neck and groin area with a hot crack pipe.

Maiden barricaded his bedroom with a table and TV and told the victim he had a gun in the house.  Though the victim never saw the gun, she feared for her life.  At some point the victim grabbed a knife from the defendant’s room and stabbed Maiden twice, inflicting minor injuries. This prompted Maiden to rip open the door, giving the victim an opportunity to escape.

The victim fled the apartment at 7:09 pm and ran down Warren Street still holding the knife. Maiden exited the apartment two minutes later and went to a neighbor’s apartment.

Eventually the victim attracted the attention of a passerby and used their cellphone to call 911. The victim immediately surrendered the knife to police.

Maiden was located with the help of video surveillance and arrested at the neighbor’s apartment. Maiden is a repeat sexual offender and is considered a danger to public safety.

“This victim’s experience is something that she’ll tragically carry forever, and today’s sentence is a just disposition for such a brutal, sadistic attack.  Our neighborhoods are safer today with this dangerous man in a prison cell,” Hayden said.
