Today is an extremely sad day as we begin to put together the pieces of a tragedy that took place yesterday, on Christmas, at the Renaissance parking garage.  This horrible situation highlights the invisible struggles many members of our community confront and the devastation that can result.  Most importantly, I want to extend my sincere condolences to this family.  Yesterday, the unspeakable happened and now we are all struggling to make sense of the circumstances surrounding these deaths.

Driver Convicted in Child’s 2013 Death

The woman who killed 7-year-old Brianna Rosales while driving drunk six years ago was found guilty today of Manslaughter OUI, Motor Vehicle Homicide, OUI Serious Bodily Injury, and Assault and Battery Dangerous Weapon in the girl’s death, Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins said.

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted OLIVIA MORA, 42, in the November 26, 2013, crash that killed young Brianna and seriously injured her mother.

“The way to resolve disagreements on matters of law is through the legal process. Guilty Verdict in Rape Case

A Suffolk County Superior Court jury yesterday found a Virginia man guilty of raping a co-worker in her Seaport District hotel room.  This verdict followed District Attorney Rachael Rollins filing an emergency motion to the Supreme Judicial Court requesting the restoration of the model rape jury instructions after the trial judge stated he would be instructing the jury in a manner prosecutors contended was unjust and unfair to the rape victim.

Former BC Student Indicted for Boyfriend’s Suicide

A Suffolk County Grand Jury on Oct. 18 returned an indictment charging INYOUNG YOU, 21, of South Korea, with involuntary manslaughter for her role in the suicide of her boyfriend Alexander Urtula, 22, who leapt to his death from atop the Renaissance parking garage in Roxbury around 8:35 a.m. on May 20, 2019.

My office is in the initial stages of investigating a complicated sequence of events that began with a domestic disturbance call at 10 p.m. last night at 21 Wyman Street in Jamaica Plain, evolved into a standoff situation in the building which is used as a bed and breakfast, and ended with the death of an individual who lived at the dwelling and assisted with the day to day operations of the property.
