Thursday dangerousness hearing set for man accused of stabbing four Sunday
BOSTON, October 17, 2022 — A man charged with stabbing four people in downtown Boston early Sunday has been ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing to take place on Thursday, District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.
DARYL DIAMOND, 39, of Boston is charged with four counts of armed assault with intent to murder and four counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. Judge James Coffey in Boston Municipal Court Central ordered Diamond held until the Thursday dangerousness hearing.
Assistant District Attorney Daniel Nucci said that at about 2:15 a.m. on Sunday Boston police officers responded to 100 Stuart Street, where they saw a victim suffering from a stab wound. Witnesses on scene stated the driver of a gray Honda Pilot had exited the vehicle and began fighting with the victim, eventually stabbing the victim with a knife. Diamond was pointed out on scene to officers as the suspect. Officers recovered a folding knife with a blood like substance on the blade from the Diamond’s pocket during a pat frisk. While the crime scene was being processed, three additional victims were identified after self-admitting to local hospitals with apparent stab wounds.
Hayden condemned the weekend’s violence in Boston, which included the shooting death of a 23-year-old woman and two male companions Sunday night.
“Violence such as we saw this weekend casts a terrible shadow upon this city. Two incidents in one day involving guns and knives left one person dead and six wounded. I’m grateful for the community leaders who are stepping forward to make a difference and I stand ready to work with all of them,” Hayden said.
