Statement of DA Kevin Hayden on the Selection of Mary Skipper as Boston Public Schools Superintendent

BOSTON, June 30, 2022—Congratulations, Superintendent Mary Skipper on your new role leading the Boston Public Schools.  The education, wellbeing and safety of our young people are top priorities for all of us.  The Superintendent of Boston Public Schools holds the great power to shape the policies and environments that allow our children to grow and thrive.  Superintendent Skipper is taking on this challenging role at a time when youth violence and offenses in and around schools have raised concerns for families, community members and officials.  I look forward to working with Superintendent Skipper and the BPS community to address these concerns and to support the safety and education of every student.
