Boston Man and Woman Arraigned on Armed Robbery Charge
BOSTON, July 7, 2022 — A man and woman from Boston are being held in lieu of bail after being arraigned Wednesday at the Roxbury Division of Boston Municipal Court in connection to a June 24 armed robbery, District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.
MIKIA STEED, 38, and BYRON DUDLEY, 30, are both charged with armed and masked robbery. Assistant District Attorney Tiffany Albanese said the duo robbed a 62-year-old victim of her wallet near Forest Place in Roxbury.
Judge Robert Ullman ordered $1,000 bail on Steed. If released she is ordered to stay away from the victim and the co-defendant, remain confined to home and wear a GPS tracking device. Ullman set $5,000 bail on Dudley, with the same conditions.
Albanese said that Steed, who was known by the victim as “Tia,” asked the victim to drive her to a store on the morning of June 24. Shortly after being picked up, Steed asked the victim to drive back to her house, claiming she forgot her card. After exiting the victim’s vehicle, Steed is shown on surveillance footage walking into an alleyway and returning soon after with a man behind her. Police later identified the man as Byron Dudley.
Dudley and Steed are shown on surveillance footage entering the victim’s vehicle. Dudley, brandishing a gun, demanded that the victim give him money and took the victim’s wallet out of her purse. Dudley wore a ski mask during the robbery.
Police were able to identify Steed as the woman known as “Tia” by conducting a query of her phone number.
Both Steed and Dudley return to court on August 4 for probable cause hearings. Steed is represented by Attorney Arnold Abelow, and Dudley is represented by Attorney Steven Sack.
