Dorchester man charged with taking upskirt photo of 11-year-old
BOSTON, July 2, 2024 – A Dorchester man was arraigned in Dorchester BMC Monday for taking an “upskirt” photo of an 11-year-old while she was walking to a bus stop last month, Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden announced.
AGUSTIN JARAMILLO, 28, was charged with one count of indecent assault and battery on a person under 14. Judge Thomas Kaplanes ordered Jaramillo held on $500 bail. Jaramillo is due back in court on September 24 for a pre-trial hearing.
On June 6, Boston police responded to a call from the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Dorchester. Officers met with a student, 11, who reported to school staff that she had been approached by a man, later identified as Jaramillo, while walking to the bus stop that morning.
Jaramillo handed the juvenile a cord and asked her to help him tie a knot. He then bent down and told the girl he was going to pull up her sock. Jaramillo then used his cellphone to take a photo up the victim’s skirt and rubbed his hand against her leg. The girl described Jaramillo as in his 30s, with a mustache, carrying a white plastic shopping bag and wearing a black T-shirt and white shorts.
Investigators reviewed video from several area cameras and observed a man matching the description interact with the victim on Wainwright Street. Police distributed still photos of the suspect.
On June 27, investigators received a tip via Facebook Messenger identifying the man in the photos as Jaramillo. Police issued an arrest warrant for Jaramillo on June 29.
“This young girl deserves great credit for relaying to school officials what happened to her that morning. That information, along with valuable assistance from a community member, helped police make an identification and arrest. This is yet another example of the community working with law enforcement to increase safety for all,” Hayden said.
All charged individuals are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
