No Bail for Man Charged in Revere Homicide
BOSTON, January 25, 2022—One day after Antwane Strickland was fatally shot in Revere, the man accused of his murder faced arraignment, Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin R. Hayden said.
ANDRE ALON TRIPP, 33, of Revere was arraigned today in the Chelsea District Court on charges of murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. At the request of assistant District Attorney Julie Higgins, Judge Jane Prince ordered Tripp held without bail.
Members of the Revere Police Department responded to the area of Thornton Street at approximately 10:46 a.m. after receiving a 911 call for help. Responding officers located the 31-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound at the location. He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries.
During the course of an intensive investigation by State Police detectives assigned to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office with the assistance of the Revere Police Department, investigators gathered evidence including witness statements, phone records and security camera footage. ADA Higgins told the court that Strickland and Tripp were on Thornton Street yesterday morning when their encounter escalated. Tripp allegedly produced a firearm and shot Strickland then fled on foot.
“I’m grateful to my office’s State Police detective unit and the Revere Police Department for their tireless work identifying and apprehending the individual accused of Strickland’s murder. We will not tolerate such senseless violence in our communities, and those who would inflict such incredible and reckless harm should know that we will take every step to hold them accountable,” DA Hayden said. “My office is available to support Strickland’s loved ones and the Revere community that has been impacted.”
Elise McConnell of the DA’s Homicide Unit is the assigned victim witness advocate. Tripp returns to court March 4.
